62 inducted into GNAAP

Sixty two graduates of the Institute of Paralegal -Training and Leadership Studies were at the weekend inducted into full membership of the Ghana National   Association of Alternative Dispute Resolution Practitioners (GNAAP) in Accra .

Use Alternative Dispute Resolution - CJ encourages court users

The Chief Justice, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, has encouraged Ghanaians to use Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) to resolve disputes instead of the traditional court processes.

This alternative, she said, would go a long way to avoid the huge debt incurred by parties involved in a dispute.

Chief Justice declares Monday to Friday ADR week in Ghana

The Chief Justice, her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo, has declared Monday 13th to Friday 17th November, 2023 as Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Week for this Legal Year Term.

The rationale for the ADF week is to afford the ADR Directorate of the Judicial Service the opportunity to engage the general public to inform the citizenry of the presence of ADR within the court system, its importance in seeking justice and how to take advantage of such an important process for a meaningful access to justice especially the poor and the vulnerable.

Alternative Dispute Resolution has superior benefits – GNAAP president

The use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in settling conflicts has superior benefits compared to the court system, President of the Ghana National Association of ADR Practitioners (GNAAP), Mr Daniel Owusu-Koranteng has said.

“Beyond the cost effectiveness and timely benefits of ADR, it is able to reconcile disputants to de-escalate conflicts and prevent them from degenerating to vio­lent levels,” he said.

Make ADR a criteria for job appointment -GNAAP President

Daniel Owusu-Koranteng, President of the Ghana National Association of ADR Practitioners (GNAAP), says the requirement for the appointment of management of institutions in the country should include vital knowledge of conflict resolution.

According to him, a good knowledge of conflict resolution by a head of institution provides efficient operation and coordination of the organisation.

ADR Practitioners Urged To Embrace Digitalisation

PRACTITIONERS of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) have been urged to embrace digitalisation in the discharge of their professional duties.

President of the Ghana National Association of ADR Practitioners (GNAAP), Daniel Owusu-Koranteng, at a mandatory continuing professional development workshop for its members on Saturday in Accra charged ADR practitioners to develop interest in digitalisation in order to speed up the practice of ADR both locally and internationally.

GNAAP is a Prestigious Regulatory Body of ADR Professionals (Mediators, Arbitrators, Negotiators, Conciliators, Customary Arbitrators etc.) in Ghana incorporated under the Companies Code, 1963 (Act 179) as amended the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992) as a private Company limited by guarantee, on 27th May, 2014. After meeting the statutory requirements, GNAAP was duly registered as a Professional Body in accordance with the provisions of the Professional Bodies Registration Decree, 1973 (NRCD 143) on 17th January, 2022.
